Judge Lisa W. Wang

Lisa W. Wang, Judge, United States Court of International Trade, appointed by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. on February 7, 2024.

Judge Lisa Wang began her career at a private law firm focusing on international trade law, particularly antidumping and countervailing duty litigation, and later became the Senior Import Administration Officer for the Department of Commerce at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China. She then served as an Assistant General Counsel for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, where she represented the United States in WTO dispute settlement litigation. Judge Wang then joined a private law firm as a partner specializing in trade policy issues and international trade law litigation. Judge Wang was Senate-confirmed in 2021 as the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Enforcement and Compliance. During her time in this position, she led the International Trade Administration’s efforts to support economic growth by maintaining a fair and rules-based system of international trade enforcement. She also was the Department of Commerce’s delegate on the Interagency Working Group for the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.  In this role, Judge Wang supported a whole-of-government agenda to advance equity, justice, and opportunity for AA and NHPI communities.

Judge Wang received her Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and a Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center.

Hiring Policies

Judge Wang generally begins soliciting applications for term clerkships in August to begin in the fall/winter of the following year. U.S. citizenship is required, and post-college or post-law school work experience is preferred. Vacancies are posted on the Online System for Clerkship Application and Review (OSCAR), and applicants should file their application materials electronically there. Intern Vacancies

Judge Wang is accepting applications for internships. Interns will work directly with law clerks. Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, a law school transcript, and a writing sample of the applicant’s own work, together in one single PDF.  The use of artificial intelligence in cover letters is prohibited. Applications that do not adhere to these instructions will not be considered. All internships are unpaid positions and U.S citizenship is required. Deadlines for applications are as follows: November 15 for spring applicants and February 15 for summer applicants.
