The Clerk's Office is open from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with the exception of the following legal public holidays:

Federal law (5 U.S.C. 6103) establishes the following public holidays for Federal employees. Please note that most Federal employees work on a Monday through Friday schedule. For these employees, when a holiday falls on a non workday -- Saturday or Sunday -- the holiday usually is observed on Monday (if the holiday falls on Sunday) or Friday (if the holiday falls on Saturday).

The following legal public holidays for federal employees will be observed in calendar year 2008:

  1. New Year's Day - Tuesday, January 1st
  2. Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. - Monday, January 21st
  3. Washington's Birthday - Monday, February 18th*
  4. Memorial Day - Monday, May 26th
  5. Independence Day - Friday, July 4th
  6. Labor Day - Monday, September 1st
  7. Columbus Day - Monday, October 13th
  8. Veterans Day - Tuesday, November 11th
  9. Thanksgiving Day - Thursday, November 27th
  10. Christmas Day - Thursday, December 25th

* This holiday is designated as "Washington's Birthday" in section 6103(a) of title 5 of the United States Code, which is the law that specifies holidays for Federal employees. Though other institutions such as state and local governments and private businesses may use other names, it isour policy to always refer to holidays by the names designated in the law.
