On March 19, 2013, the United States Court of International Trade approved certain changes in filing fees that will become effective on May 1, 2013. These changes flow from an increase in the district court miscellaneous fee schedule promulgated under Title 28 U.S.C. § 1914. Therefore, pursuant to these changes, amendments were made to USCIT Rule 3, the Schedule of Fees, and Specific Instructions to Forms 1, 2, 3 and 4. Effective May 1, 2013, the fee for filing an action other than one commenced under 28 U.S.C. § 1581(a) or (d)(1) will be increased from $350 to $400; the fee for filling a summons in an action commenced under 28 U.S.C. § 1581(a) will be increased from $150 to $175; and the fee for filing an action commenced under 28 U.S.C. § 1581(d)(1) will be increased from $25 to $35. Language deleted from each rule appears with strike-overs. When viewed on the USCIT Website, the proposed new language will appear in red. If the proposed amendments are downloaded to a non-color printer, the proposed new language will appear in bold. Notice of the amendments was transmitted to various sources for publication. If you have obtained a hard copy of the Rules from a commercial publisher, you may wish to contact that publisher to determine when it will make the amendments available. A copy of the amendments is available for review at the Court’s website: www.cit.uscourts.gov.
